- When should I send appointment reminder texts?
- The standard cadence for home services is three touches: a confirmation the moment the job is booked, a reminder 24 hours before, and an on-my-way text when you leave the previous job. That combination all but eliminates no-shows — the 24-hour text gives the customer time to reschedule, and the on-my-way text gets the driveway cleared before you arrive.
- How long should a reminder text be?
- One SMS segment if you can (160 characters), two at most. Lead with who you are and when you're coming — customers skim. Every template on this page fits in one or two segments once you fill in the placeholders.
- Do customers need to opt in to reminder texts?
- For transactional messages about an appointment the customer booked, texting them at the number they gave you is expected and normal — but you must honor STOP replies immediately, and marketing texts (promotions, re-engagement) need express consent under TCPA. When in doubt: appointment logistics are fine, promotions need a yes first.
- Should reminders come from my number or a business number?
- A consistent number the customer can reply to. The worst setup is a no-reply blast service — half the value of a reminder is the customer being able to text back 'actually, can we do 2pm?'. Whether it's your cell or a dedicated business line matters less than replies reaching a human.
- Can I automate these reminder texts?
- Yes — that's exactly what scheduling software does. Houseler sends the confirmation, the 24-hour reminder, and the follow-up automatically from your schedule, with the customer's name and time filled in. The templates on this page are the manual version of what it sends for you.
