Why a direct review link matters

Most customers who say "sure, I'll leave you a review" never do — not because they didn't mean it, but because the path is five steps long: open Google, search your business, find your listing, locate the reviews section, click write a review. A direct link removes four of those steps and lands them on the form with the stars already showing. Businesses that text a direct link right after the job routinely see several times the review rate of businesses that just ask.

Three places to use it

  • Text it after every job. The copy-paste message above is worded to feel personal, not automated. Send it within the hour, while the clean driveway or shining car is right in front of them.
  • Print the QR code. On the invoice, on a thank-you card, on the truck. A customer scanning it is two taps from a posted review.
  • Add it to your email signature and website footer. Low volume, zero effort, compounds forever.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Google review link?
A Google review link is a direct URL to the "write a review" form for your Google Business Profile. It uses your business's place ID: https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=YOUR_PLACE_ID. When a customer opens it, the 5-star form is already on their screen — they don't have to search for your business, find the reviews section, and click through, which is where most would-be reviewers give up.
How do I find my Google place ID?
You don't need to — the generator above finds it for you. Search your business name, pick your listing, and the tool reads the place ID from Google's own Places database and builds the link. If you want to see it manually, the place ID is the string after "placeid=" in your generated link.
Is it against Google's rules to send customers a review link?
No — Google explicitly encourages asking customers for reviews and even provides review links inside the Google Business Profile dashboard. What violates Google's policy is review gating (only asking happy customers, or filtering out unhappy ones first), offering incentives for reviews, or posting fake reviews. Send the same ask to every customer and you're fine.
When is the best time to ask for a Google review?
Within an hour of finishing the job, while the result is literally in front of the customer. A text message with a direct link converts far better than an email the next day. For home services — detailing, pressure washing, cleaning, lawn care — the moment you finish and they see the result is the peak.
Where should I put the QR code?
Anywhere a happy customer is standing: on your invoice or receipt, on a small card you hand over at the end of the job, on your service vehicle, at your counter if you have one. The QR code downloads at 1024×1024px, which stays sharp from business-card size up to a window decal.
Does this work for any business?
Yes — any business with a Google Business Profile, in any industry, anywhere Google Maps operates. Houseler is built for home service businesses, but the generator itself is universal and free.
